Text:
Drewstown House
Drewstown House is operated by World Missions Fellowship and the Drewstown
House Trust. It had its beginning as an orphanage in 1952 before becoming
a school in the mid-1960's.
Today it is a Christian Centre used for summer Bible camps, weekend
retreats and conferences. Situated three miles from Athboy and seven miles
from Kells, in the heart of Ireland, this stately Georgian-style house
set among 54 acres, looks out upon a beautiful lake, woodlands and rolling
green pastures.
Accomodation / Food
Drewstown House has adequate dorm room accommodation for up to
100 people with modern showers and toilet facilities on every floor. For
your stay it is essential to bring a sleeping bag and pillows. Blankets
can be supplied if necessary.
For conference use, there are adequate meeting rooms, with overhead
projectors, video and TV facilities.
The centre is open to self-catering groups, or if preferred, catering
can be provided.
Activities
There is no lack of things to do at Drewstown House. Outdoor
activities include football, volleyball and archery. Alternatively, the
multi-purpose gymnasium can be used for most indoor sports and activities.
Canoeing is very popular, with very good fishing if you have your own tackle.
The beautiful setting of lake and forest provide a perfect environment
for peaceful walks and quiet reflection. Staff can advise on other suitable
walks and must-see sites.
